The weather has cooled somewhat in Southwestern Virginia over the past week, as the Virginia Tech Hokies have hit the midway point of fall camp. We are less than three weeks away from VT’s season-opener in Atlanta against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
As is expected, two weeks into camp, the Hokies are dealing with some nagging injuries. Fortunately, none seem to be serious, but head coach Brent Pry gave some updates after Wednesday’s practice.
Here are some of the injured Hokies and what Pry said
about each player:
- Junior WR Cameron Seldon: “He’s got a minor injury he’s coming back from.”
- Grad Sr. RB Braydon Bennett: “Bennett got a little knee bruise, nothing serious.”
- Grad Sr. RB Terion Stewart: “Stewart started practice and then got something tweaked a little bit, and they took him and checked him out and brought him back out, but I don’t think that’s anything serious.”
- R-Fr. WR Chanz Wiggins: “Wiggins, it’s got a chance to be a little bit longer. Not surgical or anything, but something that may take some time to get him back.”
- R-Jr. G Brody Meadows: “That hopefully is short-term. I look for him to be back next minicamp.”
Meadows was in a walking boot at practice on Wednesday. Pry noted that this is the part of camp where teams are banged up, but he’s overall encouraged by Virginia Tech’s injury situation for the time being.
Pry also noted that several position battles are still ongoing, but the starting offensive line is pretty set.
We’ll have more from Pry, including a surprising player who stood out in Wednesday’s practice.
