Buccaneers wide receiver Jalen McMillan ruled out of the game after scary injury

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Jalen McMillan was shaken up and ruled out for the remainder of the game with a back injury and concussion evaluation after landing awkwardly in the first quarter of tonight’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium.

McMillan made an impressive first-down grab from veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s throw after leaping up to make the catch, moving the chains early in Tampa Bay’s second drive. But as he was in the air, he was up-ended

by a Steelers defensive back, landing awkwardly on the back of his neck/head area. Trainers quickly rushed to his side, but eventually walked off the field. He would eventually be seen carted off in to the locker room.

Despite McMillan’s early exit, the Buccaneers capitalized on the momentum from the drive. Second-year running back Bucky Irving capped the series with a 15-yard touchdown reception from Bridgewater, giving Tampa Bay an early lead.

The team will most likely provide an update on McMillan’s condition after the game, though if there is anything positive from this is that McMillan did seem to be OK following the play as he headed to the sideline.
