WHAT'S THE STORY?

Bayern Munich beat Olympique Lyonnais 2-1 in its first of two preseason matches heading into the 2025/26 campaign. If you missed the match, here’s a 3-2-1 rundown.

Debuts and new faces galore. Bayern has had a busy summer already with its Club World Cup campaign, and perhaps in view of that, Vincent Kompany made good use of the time to try out his full squad. This game, though, was two-way traffic.

This wasn’t Bayern’s first-choice XI by any means and it was only a friendly. But credit to Lyon — 6th placed finishers in last year’s Ligue 1 standings — for hanging in there and getting their chances.
