Bayern Munich defender Hiroki Itō has had a starcrossed career in Bavaria so far, but things could be starting to turnaround for the 26-year-old.
After missing almost the entire season with a metatarsal injury, Itō is back running at Säbener Straße per MagentaTV journalist Victor Catalina:
Hiroki Itō has resumed running training on the pitch for the first time since his metatarsal fracture.
Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) added more context:
Hiroki Itō has resumed running training today. After three metatarsal
ADfractures, the defender will be introduced back very cautiously and without any time pressure. Team doctors will monitor how Itō’s foot reacts to the increasing workload. Internally, there’s talk of October as a possible comeback date.
Bayern Munich could definitely use a healthy Itō at both center-back and left-back for this upcoming season.
With a move for Hugo Ekitiké getting close, the reality is that Bayern Munich is likely going to get Luis Diaz…whether fans like it or not. Bayern Munich has reportedly also exited talks with VfB Stuttgart to focus on a deal for Diaz. It might also just be time for Bayern Munich to rip off the band-aid and sell Kim Min-jae, João Palhinha, and Sacha Boey. Finally, we have a note on Bayer Leverkusen’s CEO and his recent slam on Bayern. You can get all of that and more on the latest edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show!
