The Luis Diaz transfer saga appears as though it may finally be moving towards its conclusion this week, with rumblings of improved offers from Bayern Munich and chatter from journalists in Colombia that the player is now pushing to get a deal done.
Now, talk of what that improved fee could look like is starting to firm up, with English reports coalescing around a potential offer of around £70M (€80M). It would falls short of a previously reported valuation of £87M (€100M) but mark a a significant
improvement over Bayern’s initial offer of €67M (£58M).
With Diaz reliably reported to now be actively pushing to join the Bundesliga club after Liverpool rejected the player’s attempts earlier in the summer to open contract discussions with two years left on his current deal, though, it could be that £70M will be enough.
Meanwhile, speculation continues to focus on Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, stuck behind Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe on the depth chart and rumoured to be looking for a move to a top club that would offer a clearer path to playing time for the Brazilian winger who is four years younger than Diaz.
Lyon’s Belgian winger Malick Fofana has also been proposed as an option this week, while Liverpool have sent signals they retain strong interest in Newcastle superstar Alexander Isak and would find a way to fit him into the squad should his transfer become possible.
