The Garnacho story so far

21 year-old Garnacho was touted as the next big thing at United. He was brought in as a youth prospect from Atletico Madrid in 2020. A wide winger who is equally happy to run wide or cut inside, the kid has got a flair for the spectacular. The Argentine international thrives in carrying the ball through defences and receiving the ball in tight spaces. While his end product needs improvement, he remains a promising young talent.

Why is Garnacho up for sale?

If he is so good then it begs the question, why would Manchester United want to get rid of him?

The answer to that lies off the pitch. In short, it is a fallout with United’s manager Ruben Amorim. Per a report by the Athletic (via the BBC), a major locker room drama had unfolded at United. Garnacho along with his brother are believed to have made public commentary on manager Ruben Amorim’s decisions in the Europa League finals.

Amorim’s decision to use Garnacho as a late substitute drew public criticism from the player and his brother. That was reportedly the flashpoint of growing discomfort between the manager and the player. The manager later responded by telling Garnacho to look for a new club. As a result, United are now willing to let go Garnacho walk.

A risk of a different kind

With that the case, should Bayern pursue a player who had a public fallout with his manager ? The player is still young enough to be moulded, however the risk of a new season of FC Hollywood remains.
