The Atlanta Braves added starting pitcher Hurston Waldrep to take the mound in the resumed Speedway Classic game today against the Cincinnati Reds. It will be Waldrep’s season debut for Atlanta.
Returning to Triple-A is infielder Jonathan Ornelas, who was added yesterday, but returned prior to today’s game.
Waldrep, Battery Power’s 2025 Mid-Season 11th ranked prospect, make his MLB debut last season. A first round pick out of the University of Florida, he had started 19 games for Gwinnett this season.
Waldrep took over for Austin Cox, who started after a rain delay forced the Braves to scratch scheduled starting pitcher, Spencer Strider.
Yesterday’s game was suspended due to rain at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, TN.
