At a press conference with his medical team, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders announced that he was dealing with a very aggressive form of bladder cancer and had to get his bladder removed this offseason.

Sanders dealt with this tumor and the complications from it over the summer, but now has recovered close to full health and will be on the sidelines coaching the Buffaloes this season. Sanders’ medical team said the tumor was fully and successfully removed, but the process and complications from it were anything but easy. Sanders, always transparent, said he lost 25 pounds during the battle and had his bladder removed.

Sanders has had health issues in the past, but nothing as serious as this. After a blood clotting condition in 2021, Sanders had to amputate two of his toes and has had procedures to remove blood clots in his legs in 2023. Being able to catch this so early and get the tumor removed is incredible, and Sanders gets to continue coaching.

Please go get checked and tested when you can, folks.
