Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will not be part of the club’s pre-season tour squad to Asia which will fly out this week.
Ter Stegen has been training alone due to a back problem and is currently deciding whether to undergo surgery.
It’s now been reported by Mundo Deportivo that it’s already been decided Ter Stegen won’t head to Asia and will stay behind in Barcelona.
New signing Joan Garcia and Wojciech Szczesny will make the trip as Hansi Flick’s side take on their first pre-season friendlies.
In the meantime, Barcelona must wait to see what Ter Stegen decides to do next. The goalkeeper has been advised to go under the knife but is apparently “not convinced” it’s the best option.
If Ter Stegen does go down the surgical route he is likely to be ruled out of action for Barcelona for the next four months.
