What's Happening?
Rob Gibson, the head coach of Avon High School's football team, has been honored as the Colts/NFL Coach of the Week. This recognition is part of a program sponsored by Corteva Agriscience and Certor Sports, aimed at celebrating outstanding high school football coaches in Indiana. Gibson's team, the Class 6A unranked Orioles, achieved a remarkable victory by overcoming a 15-point deficit to defeat Class 6A-No.13 Decatur Central, 30-28, in overtime. This win marks Avon’s first season-opening victory since 2019. The Colts have been recognizing high school coaches for 26 years, evaluating them based on their impact on the team, school, and community, as well as the team's performance.

Each week, a new coach will be selected based on their team's performance and their impact on the community. At the end of the season, each winning coach will receive a $1,000 donation from the NFL Foundation, a commemorative plaque, and additional contributions from Corteva Agriscience and Certor Sports. This ongoing recognition program will continue to motivate coaches and teams to strive for excellence both on and off the field.
