On Friday, September 26, the defending champions of the Men’s Asia Cup, Team India beat Sri Lanka in the final Super Four match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Coming into the game
after securing a place in the summit clash after their win over Bangladesh, India registered a hard-fought victory over Sri Lanka in a Super Over.
While the game had its moments, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav also sealed the spotlight for his kind gesture towards the Lanka side. During the Super Four game, the Indian T20I captain was seen comforting Sri Lankan spinner Dunith Wellalage, who lost his father Suranga Wellalage during the side’s game against Afghanistan in group stage.

It is to be noted that after Sri Lanka’s close win over Afghanistan in the Group B match, Dunith Wellalage was informed of his father’s sudden demise due to heart attack by head coach Sanath Jayasuriya. However, the spinner left the Asia Cup midway following the tragic loss, but joined the side ahead of their Super Four game against Bangladesh.
But after the news was communicated to the Indian camp, Suryakumar Yadav approached Wellalage on Friday, comforting him and offering words of encouragement. The two nearly spoke for two minutes with the Indian skipper repeatedly patting and cheering him on.
