During the second Women’s ODI (WODI) of the three-match series against Australia, Smriti Mandhana, the Indian vice-captain, scored her 12th hundred in the format, to put her team in a strong position at the Maharaja

Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh. The 29-year-old got to the milestone in just 77 balls, becoming the second fastest to a WODI hundred for India while holding the record with a 70-ball ton.

With a boundary on the bowling of Tahlia McGrath, hitting her over deep mid-on after picking up the slower ball, Smith Mandhana also reached her third hundred against Australia in WODIs. She ended up losing her wicket to the same bowler, but not before scoring 117 runs off just 91 balls with 11 fours and four sixes, leaving India 192/4 in 32.2 overs as Richa Ghosh joined Deepti Sharma in the middle.

The Indian women’s cricket team are currently 1-0 behind in the three-match ODI series, so a victory is necessary for them to drag Australia to a decider.

As of this writing, India have got to 243/5 in 42 overs with Deepti Sharma still at the crease, in the 30s, just joined by Radha Yadav in the middle after the fall of Richa Ghosh’s wicket for 29 off 33 with three fours to her name.
