Team Indiaopener Yashasvi Jaiswal recently appeared in an interview with Mashable India and appreciated veteran Virat Kohli for his strong mindset and wit. Jaiswal has played a lot of cricket with Kohli since
the former’s international debut in July 2023. In May 2025, Kohli retired from Test cricket and with this development, Yashasvi might not get a chance to play with the 36-year-old again consistently as Kohli is active in ODIs only and Jaiswal is yet to reserve his place in India’s ODI squad. Both Kohli and Jaiswal served India together last in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, played in Australia.
In his recent chat with Mashable India, when Jaiswal was asked about Virat Kohli, the youngster said, “He is very good and has a strong mindset. I have batted with him several times. He is witty. When you’re with him, he will make you laugh every time. He is on a different level. If he is saying anything about someone, he will tell you in detail. If you ask me to tell something funny and I tell you, it won’t sound funny but if he (Kohli) tells you, you will definitely laugh."

During his recent chat, Yashasvi Jaiswal also praised India’s ODI skipper Rohit Sharma. The southpaw said that while playing with Rohit, he has learnt a lot. "I really enjoy being with Rohit bhai. He has taught me so much and helped me a lot in developing myself, both mentally and overall. He is truly an amazing human being. When you are around him or talk to him, you learn a lot — in fact, just by watching him, you can learn so much," said Jaiswal on Rohit.
Rohit and Kohli are highly likely to play India’s upcoming ODI series against Australia, set to be played between October 19 and 25. Yashasvi Jaiswal might be seen against the West Indies in the upcoming home Tests, set to be held between October 2 and 14.
