During the third and final Group A contest of the Asia Cup 2025 for both Team India and Oman, Sanju Samson looked in exceptional touch with his bat and helped the Indians bag a relatively easy 21-run win.
After Shubman Gill’s early departure, Sanju Samson walked into the middle at number three. With opener Abhishek Sharma, Samson built a 66-run stand off 34 balls for the second wicket. Abhishek went back to the dugout after notching up a swift 38 off 15 but Sanju displayed composure and took India’s innings ahead. He held one end and helped other batters to attack Oman bowling attack.
Sanju Samsonbrought up his third T20I fifty in just 42 balls and helped India have complete control over the match. With Tilak Varma, he stitched a crucial 41-run stand for the sixth wicket off just 26 balls. Eventually, his fine knock came to an end in the 18th over of the match. Left-arm speedster Faisal Shah got him caught at the hands of Aryan Bisht. He returned to the pavilion with his 56 runs off 45 deliveries, hitting three fours and three sixes, to play a key role in India reaching 188/8 before bowlers defended it successfully.
India to kick off the Super 4 round against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday
India’s next challenge is against their arch-nemesis Pakistan in the second match of the Super 4 round to be played in Dubai on Sunday, September 21. On record, the Men in Blue are looking dominant but they have to be wary of the Green Army, who carry the tag of unpredictability with themselves.
Pakistan’s last win against India came in the Asia Cup 2022 game held in Dubai. In the contest played between both Asian giants, Pakistan chased down the total of 182 with five wickets in hand and one ball to spare. Since that victory, Pakistan have lost six games (including T20Is and ODIs) against India.
