The US Space Force (USSF) and Boeing have entered into a USD2.8 billion agreement to develop the Evolved Strategic Satcom (ESS) satellites. Boeing will construct the first two space vehicles (SVs) for the ESS program, with an option for two additional SVs. These satellites are part of the initial tranche aimed at achieving initial operational capability. The ESS constellation will serve as the primary satcom conduit for US nuclear command, control, and communications operations at geosynchronous Earth orbit.
