What's Happening?
The ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey & Land Use Planning, in collaboration with ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, has organized an awareness campaign for tribal farmers in Jhargram district, West Bengal. The campaign is part of the Crop Diversification Project under 'Mission – LiFE: Lifestyle for Environment'. Tribal farmers are encouraged to adopt pulses and oilseeds as rabi and pre-kharif crops following kharif rice, utilizing residual moisture. Scientists discussed the benefits of crop diversification, including food security, resource conservation, and soil and environmental health protection. Leaflets on the mission were distributed in local languages to enhance understanding and implementation.
