The miners were rescued and evacuated to Bangui, CAR's capital, on July 28, and have since been provided with accommodation, food, and medical care by the Nigerian Embassy. The miners were accompanied back to Nigeria by the Nigerian Ambassador to CAR, Babagana Ahmed, and were formally received at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
