What's Happening?
The Estonian Ministry of Defense has announced the acquisition of six additional French CAESAR self-propelled wheeled howitzers, enhancing the country's military capabilities. This delivery completes a contract signed in April 2024 with France's Nexter (KNDS). Estonia now operates a total of 12 CAESAR howitzers, alongside 24 South Korean K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers. This development follows Estonia's decision in 2022 to provide Ukraine with its towed artillery, including 36 122 mm D-30s and 24 155 mm FH-70s. The new howitzers are expected to significantly boost Estonia's firepower, mobility, and defense readiness.
