What's Happening?
Suryodaya Municipality in Ilam has been recognized as the top municipality in Koshi Province based on the institutional capacity self-assessment conducted by the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration for the fiscal year 2023/24. The municipality scored 90.50 points, ranking first among 137 municipalities and rural municipalities in the province. Nationally, Suryodaya secured the sixth position out of 753 municipalities. The assessment evaluated various areas including governance, financial management, service delivery, and social inclusion. Mayor Rana Bahadur Rai attributed this success to the municipality's alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its disciplined approach to governance.
