What's Happening?
The Sahel Alliance, an international coordination platform, was established in 2017 to support development initiatives in the Sahel region, which includes Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, and Chad. The alliance focuses on five priority sectors: education and youth employment, agriculture and food security, energy and climate, governance, and decentralization and basic services. Despite the region's rich natural resources, it remains one of the poorest globally, facing security challenges and economic vulnerabilities. The alliance aims to improve coordination among development partners to enhance the effectiveness of projects and improve living conditions in the region.
