A rare celestial event known as a 'black moon' is set to occur on August 23, 2025. This event, which is not an official astronomical term, refers to the third of four new moons in a single season. The black moon will rise in the early morning hours, but it will not be visible from Earth as the sunlit side of the moon will be facing away. This phenomenon occurs due to the misalignment between the lunar cycle and the Earth's calendar, resulting in an extra new moon. The black moon will be positioned in the constellation Leo, just one degree north of the sun.
