What's Happening?
Reconstruction efforts are underway for a replica Iron Age roundhouse at Flag Fen Archaeology Park in Peterborough, following its destruction in a suspected arson attack. The roundhouse, originally built in 2022, was an educational resource attracting thousands of visitors annually. The rebuilding project, led by roundhouse expert David Freeman, is expected to take up to nine months. The community has rallied to support the reconstruction, with donations and materials provided by Historic England and the National Trust's Wimpole Estate. The first stage of the rebuild involves laying the foundations, with public events planned to engage visitors in traditional building techniques.
