Dr. Dennis K. Murphy, a respected educator, musician, author, and community leader, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, at the age of 93. Born in Rochester, New York, Murphy dedicated much of his life to education and community service. He was a graduate of the Aquinas Institute and St. John Fisher College, and earned his Doctorate in Education from the University of Rochester. His teaching career spanned several institutions, including Grinnell College and Keuka College, where he served as Chairman of the Education Department until his retirement in 1997. Murphy was also deeply involved in his community, notably as a member of the Penn Yan Lions Club and as a golf professional at Lakeside Country Club. He authored several books and co-authored histories of Penn Yan, contributing significantly to local culture and education.
