What's Happening?
Prince William has received approval from Lambeth Council to convert land in south London into housing for young people who have experienced homelessness. The Duchy of Cornwall, which owns the site at 60 Sancroft Street in Vauxhall, will renovate it into 16 affordable rental units for individuals aged 18 to 25. This initiative is part of the Homewards programme, launched by Prince William in 2023, aiming to demonstrate the possibility of ending homelessness. The project will be managed by the charity Centrepoint, with rents set at one-third of a tenant's gross earnings. The plan includes provisions for employment support, with 12 tenants required to be in full-time employment and the remaining four assisted in finding jobs.
