Dr. Dennis K. Murphy, a respected educator, musician, author, and community leader, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, at the age of 93. Born in Rochester, New York, Murphy dedicated much of his life to education and community service. He began his teaching career at Grinnell College in Iowa and later became a Full Professor and Chairman of the Education Department at Keuka College, where he served until his retirement in 1997. Murphy was also an active member of the Penn Yan Lions Club and served as a golf professional at Lakeside Country Club. His contributions to literature include several books on teaching and local history, as well as creative works like an Irish-themed novel and a play. Murphy's life was marked by his devotion to his Catholic faith, family, and music, leaving a lasting impact on his community and students.
