Born in Gary, Indiana, Joyce graduated from Lew Wallace High School in 1956 and married Thomas C. Leonard in 1959. The couple moved to New York City for Thomas's military service before settling in Hobart, where they raised three sons. Joyce was deeply involved in her community, serving as a deacon and choir director at the First Presbyterian Church in Hobart. She was known for her love of singing and playing the piano, as well as her annual family vacations to Cisco Lake in Michigan. Joyce is survived by her husband, three sons, two grandchildren, and her beloved cat, Tilly. Visitation will be held at Rees Funeral Home on August 10, followed by a funeral service at Hobart Presbyterian Church on August 11.
