Marrero was also deeply involved in community service, volunteering as a Candy Striper during her youth and participating in various organizations such as the VFW and the American Legion. Her love for music was expressed through her participation in choirs, including the African American Women's Gospel Choir (AKOMA). Marrero is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jesu Marrero, her children, and grandchildren. Her funeral service is scheduled for August 23, 2025, at The Church of St. Luke & St. Simon Cyrene in Rochester, NY.
