Loretta Pitts-Whittler, a beloved member of her community, passed away on July 24, 2025, at the Methodist Southlake Campus. Born to Othello Sr. and Mildred Lipscomb-Pitts, she was the fourth of twelve children. Loretta was married to Sylvester Whittler Jr. for over 50 years, and together they built a life filled with love and family. She worked at Theodosia’s Elbow Room restaurant for 12 years and later at Per Pak in Rensselaer. Her life was marked by a tragic car accident that left her with lifelong injuries. Loretta is survived by her daughters, step-daughter, siblings, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who cherish her memory. Her funeral services are scheduled for August 16, 2025, at the Guy & Allen Chapel in Gary, Indiana.
