John Kopta, a Carnival Cruise passenger, recounted his efforts to rescue a drowning American tourist at the newly opened Celebration Key resort in the Bahamas. Kopta, along with his wife and another beach-goer, pulled a 79-year-old man from the water after noticing him motionless while snorkeling. Despite immediate CPR efforts by lifeguards and medical teams, the man was pronounced dead. A second drowning incident occurred later that day involving a 74-year-old woman in a freshwater lagoon. Both victims were part of separate cruise groups visiting the resort.
