Everyone knows about the stories of the Bermuda Triangle, the place where some due to mysterious
happenings the place is believed to be associated with extraterrestrial matters. There are few places or rather zones where radio signals don't work or once someone reaches there, the chances are less likely to come out safely. There are many urban legends about this mysterious place called the zone of silence. Let's find out some interesting facts about this place.
This mysterious place is located in northern Mexico.
Among many deserted areas, the Chihuahuan desert is a place where no radio signal works. Such activity is observed around 50 km in a specific location. The nearby well-recognized area is Mapimi Biosphere Reserve. This reserved area is mostly uninhabited with flat terrain and mountain outcrops in several positions. The area is characterized by extremely high levels of magnetite and Uranium deposits.
For the very time in 1930, some reported document was found for this place.
A pilot named Franciso Sarabia observed that the navigation system didn't work nearby this location and he reported some mysterious happenings.
There was no name for this area until 1966.
Surprisingly enough, there were no recorded documents on the name of this place. The national oil company, Pemex started an expedition in search of oil in unexplored locations of Mexico. The mission was headed by organic chemist Augusto Harry de la Pea. The team observed some mysterious happenings in the area while the photographic survey. They lost radio signals, couldn't get proper direction with the compass. Further, they observed the presence of mysterious fossils and rocks. By observing those things, the area was named La Zona Del Silencio or zone of silence.

This region is also associated with numerous myths. They are the presence of aliens, UFOs, mystic lights, and so on. The concept of alien was believed from one incident in October 1975. Josefina and Ernesto Diaz went to the place to collect some fossils and rocks by car, while returning they faced a huge thunderstorm and couldn't move ahead, all of a sudden, two mysterious persons came and pushed the car and they were never seen as the thunderstorm stopped. No research could find the occurrence of any extraterrestrial activities in the zone of silence. The presence of UFOs became a myth from a photograph captured in 1976. A person took a photograph of a silver shiny object in the sky while visiting nearby that place. Till now, that object is not confirmed as any UFO. One popular myth is that, an American missile was fired from Nw Mexico in 1970, however it was pulled in the zone of silence due to magnetic force. But there is no such record of missile launching in that time.
