PBS SoCal has unveiled the judges for the 26th edition of its Fine Cut Festival of Films, an annual event celebrating the work of California student filmmakers. This year, the festival received a record 430 submissions from students across 53 schools in California. The competition awards prizes totaling over $45,000, with winners selected by an industry panel in categories such as documentary, animation, and narrative. The judges include Emmy-winning director Mary Lou Belli, director of photography Doug Emmett, and other notable figures from the film industry. The awards ceremony is scheduled for September 16 at the Eagle Theatre at Vidiots in Eagle Rock, co-hosted by Variety's Michael Schneider and Angelique Jackson. Finalist films will be broadcast in six one-hour episodes starting September 24 on PBS SoCal Plus and available for streaming online.
