During its decade-long run, Essanay Studios produced approximately 2,000 films, with about 215 surviving today. Charlie Chaplin, one of the most famous actors of the silent film era, worked at Essanay Studios for a brief period in 1915, where he created the short comedy 'His New Job.' The studio's operations eventually moved to Niles, California, marking the end of its Chicago chapter.
