Kher engaged in an exclusive discussion with Zoom, where he reflected on the challenging period when his wife, actress Kirron, received a cancer diagnosis. The seasoned actor also offered insightful advice for fostering successful relationships for the younger generation, emphasizing that it involves much more than just love.
In his conversation with Zoom, the Tanvi the Great star remarked, "Your character is defined by the choices you make during tough times, not during the easy ones. That’s when your true nature is revealed, and no one can predict how they will respond in such situations, as life can take unexpected turns. You may not know what the next moment holds, but I always remind everyone that your actions and reactions during challenging times reveal the essence of who you are."
He further shared, "Kirron and I have celebrated 40 years of marriage. While we have been together for so long, she served as an MP for a decade, which meant she was often away, and I was involved in a highly successful show in America called New Amsterdam, which was extended for three additional seasons. When I began the third season, I learned that Kirron had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, and my immediate response was to be by her side. I’m not a doctor, but I felt it was essential to be there for her. Naturally, she was heartbroken, as anyone would be upon hearing such news, but I knew I had to leave the show."

"Courage plays a crucial role in relationships because it influences the decisions you make. Professionally, being part of that show was significant for me, and it had substantial financial implications as well. My dream was to become an international actor, and that show could have helped me achieve that. However, returning to support Kirron was my priority. It’s not just about coming back and sitting with her; it’s about taking action when needed," the veteran actor expressed with emotion.
"My bond with Kirron is built on immense respect; love is certainly present, but after being married for 40 years, it’s an extraordinary and beautiful experience. It’s a source of strength, and I sometimes need to provide her with strength, just as she has supported me during my vulnerable moments. This is a natural aspect of any long-term relationship," Kher concluded.
