highly significant. Two Ekadashis occur every month, making a total of 24 in a year. Among them, Vijaya Ekadashi, which falls in the Krishna Paksha of Phalgun, is regarded as especially rewarding. According to religious belief, worshipping Lord Vishnu with proper rituals and observing the fast on this day brings success in every area of life. The fast is being observed today, 13 February. The Parana of the fast will be done tomorrow, Saturday, 14 February 2026, between 06:35 am and 08:52 am. Breaking the fast within the prescribed time is believed to bring its full spiritual benefit.

Religious Significance of Vijaya Ekadashi

The word ‘Vijaya’ means victory. It is believed that observing this fast helps a person overcome obstacles in life. It is said to cleanse one of sins and bring lasting spiritual merit. Scriptures describe it as a fast that grants rewards comparable to performing a grand yajna. According to belief, anyone who observes this fast with sincerity has their wishes fulfilled and achieves success in their endeavours.

Story Associated with Lord Rama

The story of Vijaya Ekadashi is linked with Lord Rama. It is believed that when he reached the seashore to rescue Sita from the captivity of Ravana, he faced the great challenge of crossing the ocean. To find a solution, he went to Vakdalabhya Muni, who advised him to observe the Ekadashi fast of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Phalgun.
It is said that Lord Rama observed this fast with proper rituals, and through its spiritual power he succeeded in conquering Lanka. Since then, this Ekadashi came to be known as Vijaya Ekadashi.

Rituals for Ekadashi Puja

Wake up early in the morning, bathe, and wear clean clothes. Worship Lord Vishnu in your prayer room or at a temple. Offer yellow flowers, yellow garments, yellow sandalwood, and yellow fruits. After lighting a diya, read the vrat katha of Vijaya Ekadashi. Chant the mantra ‘Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya’.
