for small satellite launches, and NeevCloud, a deep-tech cloud computing provider. Their joint venture focuses on establishing Artificial Intelligence (AI) data centers that will operate in orbit. The core innovation lies in utilizing the extendable upper stages of Agnikul's rockets as platforms for these data centers. This means that after delivering payloads, the rocket stages won't be discarded but will be repurposed as functional space assets capable of hosting advanced hardware and software. This partnership marks a pivotal moment, with the first commercial agreement to deploy NeevCloud's orbit-based AI data center module into space. The plan is to run real-time AI inference applications directly from orbit on this unique platform. This innovative approach is set to redefine how we think about data processing and cloud services by bringing them closer to the edge, literally in space.
Reusable Rocket Stages
The ingenious strategy behind this ambitious project involves repurposing the upper stages of Agnikul's rockets into active, functional space assets. Agnikul's founder and CEO, Srinath Ravichandran, explained that their convertible upper-stage technology allows these stages to remain operational after their primary launch mission. This extends their utility, transforming them into valuable platforms for hosting various types of hardware and software in space, including crucial compute and data capabilities. This innovative model represents a natural evolution for a space transportation company: not just building, launching, and recovering rockets, but also extending their lifecycle and function into orbit. This approach is key to reducing the overall cost of deploying services in space, as it capitalizes on existing infrastructure that would otherwise be single-use. Secure Sovereign AI

The ambitious goal is to deploy over 600 orbital edge data centers within the next three years. These data centers, conceptualized as modular Space Data Centre Modules (SDCMs), will form a constellation in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). This constellation will provide continuous, real-time AI inferencing capabilities. It will effectively offload demanding computational tasks from terrestrial devices, channeling them to specialized AI chips located in space. This expansion is a critical enabler for NeevCloud's AI Supercloud scaling strategy, paving the way for a robust and distributed AI infrastructure accessible from anywhere on the globe.
