Amtrak is set to introduce its fastest train yet, the NextGen Acela, on the Northeast Corridor starting August 28. This new fleet will connect Washington, D.C., New York City, and Boston, reaching speeds of up to 160 mph, which is 10 mph faster than the current Acela trains. The launch marks the beginning of a comprehensive high-speed rail upgrade, with 28 new trainsets to be rolled out by 2027. The NextGen Acela will offer 27% more seating capacity and enhanced amenities such as free 5G Wi-Fi, individual power outlets, and reading lights.
