EnQuest has successfully completed the removal of the Heather Alpha topsides in the North Sea using the Pioneering Spirit heavy lift vessel. The operation, which took place on August 11, involved lifting the 15,300-tonne structure in just 14 seconds, marking the largest single lift planned in the region this year. This achievement follows three years of meticulous planning and preparation by EnQuest, which has also plugged and abandoned over 80 North Sea wells in recent years. The topsides are now being transported to Denmark for dismantling, with plans to recycle over 95% of the materials.
