Robert Z. Aliber, a renowned international economist and a long-standing faculty member at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, passed away on June 22 at the age of 94. Aliber was born in Keene, New Hampshire, and after graduating from Williams College in 1952, he received a Fulbright Scholarship to study at St. John's College, Cambridge, UK. He later earned a PhD from Yale University in 1962. Aliber was a prolific author, known for his influential works on the global economy, including 'The International Money Game' and 'Manias, Panics, and Crashes.' He also authored two personal finance books titled 'Your Money and Your Life.' Aliber's career was marked by extensive travel and engagement with financial institutions and central banks worldwide. Even after his formal retirement in 2004, he continued to speak at alumni events and maintain his research activities. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and partner Jacqueline Winter. A memorial service is scheduled for October 4th at The Mather in Evanston.
