What's Happening?
Turkey is set to conduct its 5G spectrum auction in October, as announced by Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu. The auction will involve three major operators: Turkcell, Turk Telekom, and Vodafone Turkey. The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) will oversee the auction, which includes 11 frequency packages across the 700MHz and 3.5GHz bands. The minimum price for these packages is set at $2.13 billion, with individual package values ranging from $50 million to $425 million. The auction aims to roll over existing mobile network licenses, allowing operators to retain their frequencies post-2G and 3G shutdowns, contingent on a 5% yearly revenue payment.
