Amtrak is set to launch its fastest train, the NextGen Acela, on August 28, 2025. This new fleet will operate on the Northeast Corridor, connecting Washington, D.C., New York City, and Boston. The NextGen Acela will reach speeds of up to 160 mph, surpassing the current Acela fleet by 10 mph. The introduction of 28 new trainsets will increase seating capacity by 27% and offer enhanced amenities such as 5G Wi-Fi, individual power outlets, and improved interior design. The trains are assembled in Hornell, New York, supporting approximately 15,000 U.S. jobs.
