Lowe's, in collaboration with the Lowe's Foundation and Hiring Our Heroes, has announced the launch of the Skilled Trades Academy aimed at providing no-cost job training and placement for veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses. This initiative seeks to address the growing skilled labor shortages exacerbated by the retirement of the Baby Boomer generation. The academy will offer training in trades such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and HVAC, without utilizing GI Bill benefits. The program is set to begin in Jacksonville, North Carolina, in the fall of 2025, with applications for the first cohort closing on September 12, 2025.
