Spiro, an electric motorcycle company, has made a significant impact in Uganda by deploying 500 electric motorcycles in a single day, marking one of the largest rollouts of electric motorcycles in Africa. This initiative is part of Spiro's strategy to transition Uganda's motorcycle sector from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles. The company plans to continue this momentum by deploying an additional 175 to 200 motorcycles daily. Spiro's approach leverages existing financing channels familiar to boda boda riders, allowing them to experience the benefits of electric motorcycles firsthand. The company has also established 22 battery swap stations to support its operations, with plans to deploy 50,000 electric bikes in Uganda by the end of 2025.
