Energy Fuels, a Denver-based company, has successfully produced its first kilogram of dysprosium oxide at the White Mesa mill in Utah. The company reported achieving a purity level of 99.9% at pilot scale, surpassing the commercial specification of 99.5%. Currently, production is running at approximately two kilograms per week using monazite sourced from Florida and Georgia. Energy Fuels is the first U.S. company to produce high-purity dysprosium oxide and disclose output levels. The pilot operations are expected to yield about 15 kg of dysprosium oxide before transitioning to terbium oxide production, with initial samples anticipated by the fourth quarter of 2025. Plans are underway to install large-scale separation capacity for dysprosium, terbium, and potentially other heavy rare earth oxides by late 2026.
