What's Happening?
Atlas Salt Inc. is collaborating with Memorial University of Newfoundland on the Passive Array for Critical Minerals on the Island of Newfoundland (PACMIN) project. This initiative aims to enhance understanding of geological structures and plate-tectonic processes that shaped the island. PACMIN, supported by Natural Resources Canada and other partners, has deployed 22 seismograph stations across Newfoundland to record ground vibrations and image the Earth's internal structure. This research is expected to improve the identification of critical minerals necessary for transitioning to a greener economy. Atlas Salt has installed a seismograph at one of its facilities in St. George's, Newfoundland, and the project will continue until summer 2027.
