MTA Announces Subway Service Disruptions for 4, 5, and 6 Lines Due to Track Work

What's Happening?

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has announced significant service disruptions for the 4, 5, and 6 subway lines over two weekends in August. The disruptions will occur from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday on the weekends of August 15-18 and August 22-25. This is due to track work involving the replacement of concrete beneath switches north of 14th Street. During these periods, 4 trains will run local between Woodlawn and Grand Central-42nd Street, with no service between Grand Central-42nd Street and Crown Heights-Utica Avenue or New Lots Avenue. The 5 trains will operate only between Eastchester-Dyer Avenue and East 180th Street, with no service south of East 180th Street to Bowling Green. The 6 trains will run local between Pelham Bay Park and Grand Central-42nd Street, with no service to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall. To mitigate the impact, the MTA will provide special W service and run the 42nd Street shuttle all weekend.
