Bechtel, a major construction firm, has partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to launch a suicide prevention initiative called Hard Hat Courage. This initiative aims to address the high rates of suicide within the construction industry by providing mental health resources and education tailored specifically for construction workers. Bechtel has pledged $7 million to AFSP, marking the largest donation in the nonprofit's history. The initiative includes a suicide prevention toolkit and toolbox talks designed to break down stigma and educate workers on mental health and suicide warning signs. The goal is to reach 500,000 workers across U.S. jobsites over five years.
