What's Happening?
Australia's Solar Sunshot program has allocated AUD 45.5 million to enhance the country's solar manufacturing capabilities. Tindo Solar, the only domestic solar module manufacturer, received AUD 34.5 million to increase its production capacity from 20 MW to 180 MW annually, creating 50 new jobs. The funding will also support feasibility studies for local solar component manufacturing. Tindo Solar plans to upgrade its factory in South Australia and expand its product range to include n-type solar panels. The initiative is part of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency's (ARENA) efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, requiring around 80 TW of solar PV.
