Rheinmetall, a German defense contractor, has inaugurated a new artillery ammunition production facility in Unterluess, Lower Saxony. The factory, built with an investment of €500 million, is designed to produce 155mm artillery shells and handle loading, assembly, and packaging processes. The facility aims to produce 350,000 artillery shells annually, contributing to a total of 700,000 rounds from Rheinmetall's global operations. This expansion is part of a broader effort to increase Europe's ammunition production capacity, which has grown sixfold in two years.
