Mack Defense, a manufacturer based in Lehigh Valley, has been awarded a new five-year contract valued at up to $221.8 million to produce the U.S. Army's M917A3 Heavy Dump Truck (HDT). This contract allows for the production of up to 450 trucks and follows the successful completion of an initial contract awarded in 2018. The M917A3 HDTs are based on the Mack® Granite® model and are manufactured at Mack Defense's dedicated production line in Allentown, Pennsylvania. These trucks are crucial for the U.S. military's construction and infrastructure maintenance, supporting operations such as airfield and roadway construction, disaster relief, and more.
