Georgia's leading aerospace companies have announced the formation of the Georgia Aerospace & Defense Alliance (GADA), a new statewide organization aimed at advancing the aerospace and defense industries within the state. The alliance is spearheaded by major industry players including Gulfstream Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, Rolls-Royce, FlightSafety International, and Pratt & Whitney. GADA will be housed at Mercer University in Macon, with Ember Bishop Bentley serving as executive director and Jay Neely as the initial board chairman. Bentley previously held the position of chief of staff and vice president for external affairs at Middle Georgia State University, which hosts Georgia's flagship School of Aviation. Neely is also the board chairman for the state Department of Economic Development. The aerospace sector is Georgia's second-largest industry, contributing over $57.5 billion annually and employing approximately 200,000 people.
